Weh dem up to: Nature on the rebound
Reggae artiste Nature is going by the name Nature Ellis these days.
Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR in a recent interview, the entertainer said he is steadily making moves in the international market.
"When Jamaica wasn't hearing from me, it's not that I wasn't working. I was still putting in the work, but things were rough for a little while. I was on the international scene putting some things together, and now, I'm ready again," he said.
The artiste is booked for Reggae Jam in Germany, which will be held from August 3 to 5. Nature - who, for six years, was part of the Downsound Entertainment label - is the latest act to announce his departure.
"This will be my third time on Reggae Jam, but this year is very special. It's their 25th anniversary, and it's my first time back in Germany in eight years. People can look out for something special from Nature Ellis at Reggae Jam. People who watched me perform in Europe before know what to expect."
The artiste went through a rough patch following his split from Downsound Entertainment in 2016 after six years with the label. He now believes things are looking up.
"I have people around me that believe in the culture and believe in my music. People like Chris Yardrock and Sean 'Contractor' Edwards. They are a part of my team and are two of the people responsible for getting me back to this place," he said.
"I am about peace and love and justice, and it's evident in my music, and people still want music with message. People need to focus on the good things that are going on. We don't tend to do that a lot in music, but people need it. I'm happy about the feedback I'm getting on my songs because I see that people need music like this," he said.
Nature Ellis is promoting the singles Tears of Joy and Reggae Party. The entertainer says they are doing well on the local scene and believes he has the material in hand to make a solid comeback.
