Korean reggae duo collabs with Beenie Man

South Korean reggae duo Skull and HaHa has had collaborations with some of the biggest names in reggae and dancehall, including Stephen Marley and Sizzla Kalonji back in 2016.

At that time, the pair listed Beenie Man among the artistes they would love to work with in the future.

Fast-forward two years, and that dream has become reality as the duo recently released a track featuring the King of Dancehall.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR, the South Koreans explained that Beenie Man has been an important influence on their music career.

They expressed that having grown up on his music, they felt honoured being able to work with him on a song as they respect him greatly as an artiste.

"Every time I got to visit Jamaica, I was fortunate enough to meet good people. I was able to meet Beenie Man's brother, who manages him, through one of my friends," said Skull. "Growing up, I was a big fan of Beenie Man, so it was great moment when I got to meet him at a party in Jamaica. The song (Dang Diggi Bang) is about enjoying life, having a good time, and just good vibes in general, and we are happy we got to work with him."

According to the duo, the song, which was released on July 24, has already been receiving rave reviews in Jamaica and South Korea.

The pair said persons in their homeland who didn't know of Beenie Man before have started to take note. They said the artiste may just have found a new market.

"Even though the reggae music scene in Korea is not as big as Jamaica's, the response has been great so far. People have started to take interest in Beenie Man as well," said Skull.

Skull and HaHa are currently working on a full-length studio album and an EP with Japanese reggae artistes.

They are also planning to have a concert in South Korea in October and another in Japan in November.
