Zyon I sings for change

In his own musical way, reggae artiste Zyon I is seeking to bring about a change in the way people are living, not just in Jamaica, but across the world.

His latest single, the aptly named Change, with an accompanying video, is set for general release in Jamaica this week, and according to Zyon I, the song is quite relevant at this time.

"Change is a song that is relevant in a society that is riddled by crime and violence, so a lot of people can relate to it. It's a song that speaks to social, political, and economic change," Zyon I said.

The song is on a rhythm created by Notis Heavyweight Rockaz, and Zyon I said the response has been overwhelming.

"It's been shared repetitively on Instagram. It's been shared in countries such as Colombia, Egypt, Israel, Ghana, Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, the prime minister used it during his campaign. The song is skyrocketing because people are dying for a change, literally and metaphorically," he said.

The video, produced by Fresh (whose portfolio includes videos for Khago, Konshens and other dancehall artistes) was shot in Jamaica and the USA.

"The video complements the song quite well and will definitely give the song some impact. I think we should be looking at a million views in quick time," he said.
