Esco expects big things for 'Bounce Suh' medley video
Producer and artiste Esco Da Shocker is gearing up to release the music video for his 'Bounce Suh' medley on Friday. The rhythm, which was released back in February, features a number of dancehall artistes, including Pamputtae, Bounty Killer, I-Octane, Esco Da Shocker and Iyara. The project comprises only five tracks and also features dancer-turned-artiste DaniiBoo.
The video, he revealed, has an all-white concept. He explained that having received huge support from people on the streets, he wanted the visuals for the medley to represent a 'street-party concept', but in a luxurious all-white setting.
"Rather than go out in the parties and do the regular collection of shots, we're paying homage to the fun weekly, dancehall vibe, but we spruced it up by putting it in all white. It's going to be a clean look," Esco told THE WEEKEND STAR.
Speaking about the compilation, Esco revealed that the project was inspired by new talent DaniiBoo. He said the dancer created a move called 'Bounce Suh', which prompted him to create a whole project focused on getting the women in dancehall back on the dance floor.
"Aside from relaunching myself as a more evolving artiste, the aim of the project is really to just enhance the fun, the vibes and the dance moves that the ladies have. As a producer, I realised that in dancehall now there is not much emphasis on the ladies' music, but there are a lot of male dance moves and male dominance. I want to level the playing field," he said.
"One of my aims with this last part of the year and in the early part of the new year is to enrich the female side of dancehall, and the work with women on this rhythm is just the tip of that."
Esco is confident that the medley video will get just as much support as the rhythm did when it was just released. He said based on the responses to the individual songs, he believes the project will continue to reap success.
"It's an uptempo, soca/dancehall infusion, and it's been getting great reviews. Dancers like Shelly Belly, Dancing Rebel, Renee 6:30, Tall Up, Dolly Body, Bamboo Gyal, all a dem people deh have gone viral with videos from the songs on the beat. The project can only achieve more success as we get ready to drop this next phase," he said.
