Jahazeil focusing on his brand
One week ago, singer Jahazeil Myrie celebrated his 25th birthday and he is still revelling in the fact that he has reached that milestone.
"Bless to see another year. Blessed birthday to me; a star was born on this day," Jahazeil posted on social media.
He told THE WEEKEND STAR that his greatest wish for this year is to get his career on track and secure the breakthrough for which he is yearning.
"At 25, I feel like I am getting there and ready for greatness," the son of reggae singer, Buju Banton, said. "I am focusing totally on my career this year and building my team and a brand for Jahazeil Myrie. I am creating my own sound and my own wave, and I know that people will soon start accepting me for myself and my sound and stop asking me about my father."
Jahazeil, who noted that he has been doing music from he was eight years old, desires to "show people that [he] is different" as he carves out his own path.
POTENTIAL
He recently signed a deal with LishaLo PR as part of an international thrust. His latest song, Left to Right, was released on December 20 by the overseas-based Parrow Don Records and Jahazeil believes that it has the potential to get his name out there.
" Left to Right is a reality song that a lot of people, especially those who are fighting the good fight, can relate to. It is all about burning out the devil. It says ' So much a gwaan left to right/Can't ketch a break because the devil is awake.' Music is there to open people's eyes and also to heal [them] as they listen to the lyrics," Jahazeil stated.
Jahazeil, who was born and raised in Kingston, has officially been sharpening his musical skills from the age of 16, writing and recording songs and being guided by his older brother, Markus Myrie.
He is most popularly known for his breakout single, Hold On, which was recorded and released in 2017. He enjoyed subsequent collaborations with his father and brother, as well as with Spragga Benz and Abatau. In 2020, he recorded Keep Strong, a song inspired by the pandemic.
