Tanya Stephens, Cedella Marley and Diana King being on the same song may seem like a far-fetched musical collaboration.

But the reality is that they have combined their talents to present Diamonds in the Sun, a soulful song which speaks directly to abuse of women, but ends on a note of hope: ' we shall overcome like diamonds in the sun.'

"It is a conglomeration of all our individual activism," Stephens told THE STAR. "We are three separate and different voices... but it was a comfortable and easy fit."

A fierce advocate for the voiceless, particularly females, Stephens knows the value of her platforms, whether it is the stage or social media, and has used them as pressure points for truths and rights and equality. She has also freely spoken about being raped.

"The advancement of women, talking about trauma and gender-based violence comes natural. The intention is to foster the debate and keep the conversation ongoing until we are comfortable discussing the problem," she said.

All three entertainers have always been active voices on issues that affect women and are high on the advancement of females.

King shows her support for Stephens on social media. She also made her voice heard on the issue of rape culture and has called for it to end. King recently got candid on Instagram about her own experience of being sexually abused as a child and has urged other victims to share their story.

"I'm grateful and honoured to be a part of this," she posted on social media about Diamonds in the Sun.

Marley, the CEO of the Bob Marley Group of Companies, was a member of the Grammy-Award winning sibling group, Melody Makers. She has taken her advocacy to the football field and is a global ambassador for the Reggae Girlz, raising money and awareness through a non-profit foundation, and has even recorded a song, Strike Hard, with her brothers Stephen and Damian.

At last year's Bob Marley 76th anniversary celebrations, which Cedella oversees, Stephens was invited as one of the special performers at what was dubbed the Survival 76 cypher.

Diamonds in the Sun will be released on Tuff Gong Radio this end of month.
