Social media star Deno Crazy's newest track, Thunda, which was done in collaboration with dancehall artiste 450, has racked up close to 300,000 views on YouTube since being uploaded last Saturday.

According to Deno Crazy, whose given name is Andre Dixon, the song was never meant to be anything too serious.

"I was at a show in St Vincent and we were freestyling after the show on a riddim on YouTube. So mi just guh, 'She mek it roll like thunda', and we a seh, yow dat bad, enuh. But we never paid it any mind 'cause we were just thinking, is [just] a freestyle. When we came back to Jamaica now, me and 450 in the studio and we remembered the song and we did it live, and somebody screen recorded it and put it on TikTok. So one morning I woke up and somebody text me seh it loud on the app, and we just work with it from there and put it together for it to make sense," he told THE STAR.

Deno Crazy has been enjoying a successful year, having also inked a deal with FLOW, while continuing his comedy. He said he is happy with the direction his career is going, and believes the key to everything is strategic planning.

"It's all about hard work and never giving up. Whatever we touch, people will enjoy. I wait my turn, and sit and strategise my moves. If you want to reach somewhere in life, you have to reform," he said.

With no intention to retire from comedy any time soon, the entertainer is focused on balancing all aspects of his craft and utilising lessons he has learnt to ensure that he is making smart moves.

"I have been applying the same methods that I have learnt in starting out as an entertainer in comedy to other aspects of my journey. So, you have to be unique and sounding different from others. It's all the same, just in different forms. We just putting in the work and done. We do this for the people, we give them happiness and a mix of reality," he said.

Last year, he announced that he would be opening a recording studio in his hometown of Linstead, St Catherine, to get into the production business.

Over the years, many comedians have struggled to be take seriously as musicians. But Deno Crazy encourages persons who feel stuck in a box to just keep pushing.

"Believe and see your dream before anyone else. Remember, humble calf doh get no milk. You have to just know how to present yourself. Never be humble, go hard for what you want. You can't be laid-back, time will past. Mi always believe, all when nutten nah gwaan," he said.
