When popular dancer and choreographer Sara Bendii stepped on to the bass box at Marketplace Entertainment Centre of the Arts (MECA) to perform for international guest celebrities Offset and Cardi B, she could not control the rate at which her adrenaline was pumping. And if that was not enough, she was welcomed with open arms by Cardi B into the cordoned off VIP area after she performed.

"She's one of my idols," Sara Bendii said in an interview with THE STAR. "In that moment, I felt overwhelmed. It was my first time meeting her, and I was elated for the opportunity to showcase my talent to the international stars. I'm just over the moon now."

Offset and Cardi, who are vacationing in Jamaica to celebrate the Migos rapper's 31st birthday, made a cameo appearance at MECA. The power couple arrived for MECA four hours after the event started, but partygoers were glad they turned up.

"I wish they had come to MECA earlier," Bendii said. "Most of the people were here to see them from the club doors opened. Nonetheless, it was a fun night. At one point while I was dancing, I wondered if I was giving enough energy but veteran dancer Latonya Style reassured me that I dominated."

Latonya Style, who acted as a spectator, and Dancing Rebel, who joined Sara Bendii in the dancing session, also received the opportunity to go into the area and take selfies with Cardi B.

Sara Bendii, once part of the all-female Jackhammer dance group, said that she has been challenging herself to choreograph dance routines to music outside of her comfort zone, which is reggae and dancehall. She said that being able to perform for the American rap artistes makes her feel one step closer to attracting overseas audiences.
