Deejay grateful for mom’s ‘lifesaving’ prayers after crash

Up-and-coming dancehall artiste Knaxx is giving thanks for life after a road crash yesterday.

He told THE STAR that if not for his mother's constant prayers over his life, he does not know what would have been the outcome.

"Mommy prayers keep me going, them lifesaving. Nothing cannot stop me because of her," Knaxx said.

When asked about the circumstances of the accident, the Top Choppa deejay, who was driving a Toyota Corolla sedan, explained that a Subaru overtaking another vehicle on the opposite side of the road, "ended up straight into my vehicle".

"I'm not sure if the car can ever be fixed and looking at the state of the car and the bruises I received, it's minimal, and it definitely could have resulted in fatalities. However, the Corolla was a left-hand drive," he said. "I was checked by the doctors and I'm dealing with a headache after the shake-up but I'm just trying to rest and relax."

The artiste, whose given name is Ramone Mitchell, is known for singles such as Tawch Up, Easy Fi Switch and Gunman and was featured on the hit collaboration, Riches, with Alkaline and Sashie Cool. He recently released his sophomore album Antagonist.

"I was actually on my way to Ocho Rios to shoot the video for El Mencho, the first track on the album. But that is now on pause," he shared.

The song, which many would identify as trap-dancehall, infuses instruments and sounds that are signature to the Latin music genre. He said that he wanted to produce visuals for El Mencho because of the feedback he has been receiving from fans.

"Everything will happen in time. I just want my fans to know I'm recovering, it's just the little bruises we have to wait on to heal. I have my two feet, no major harm done, but I'll be well soon," Knaxx said.
