Four years after the release of his signature track Cherry Gardens, up-and-coming dancehall artiste Wowski will be adding fresh promotion for the track which he is confident has not yet reached its full potential.

He said the song still enjoys a massive reaction from fans whenever he performs it live and believes now is the time to capitalise on the track's influence.

"Promotion is key, and I haven't promoted it enough, so I am putting every effort in ensuring every household hears this song," he reasoned. "I will be using a mixed marketing approach by boosting promotion on social media, in the dancehall and doing lots of stage shows across the island."

He said he was inspired to pen the song while on a trip to the country as he passed through some upscale neighbourhoods.

"I was on way to St Mary and passing by Shortwood Road and was looking on the hillside and I said to myself that I need a house in Cherry Gardens, and the lyrics just came to me. So I stopped by Vision House Studio in Mona the next morning and my producer said he wanted me to hear a new riddim and it matched the lyrics I had for Cherry Gardens. He said that song bad on the riddim so I should finish it and the rest is history," he explained.

Wowski said he developed a love for music when he was a child.

"My uncles used to own a sound system and my cousins and I used to play the system in our yard on Sundays. At that stage, it was records [that people were playing], and each one would do a 45" and the version on the other side. So they would often times play the version and we would make our own lyrics on the beats," he said.

When asked what he offers differently as an up-and-coming artiste, he said, "I plan to create a niche as a motivational artiste, as well as remain professional in the business of music. In addition, I will drop hits on top of hits because that's what really separates a big artiste from an up-and-coming artiste."
