Alkaline brings new wave to Caribbean
International dancehall superstar Alkaline is set to ignite the Reggae on the Hill festival in Barbados this weekend.
The artiste will close out the weekend celebrations, which is being held at Farley Hill National Park. He will perform on Sunday. The three-day festival will also feature performances from Spragga Benz, Anthony B, Jahshii, Chris Martin and Turbulence.
Alkaline's trot to Barbados is the first in a series of Caribbean stops that have been programmed for the Champion Boy hitmaker. The trendsetting entertainer is slated to be in Guyana on May 27, for Genesis Independence Weekend. The weekend celebration will see the artiste headlining a mega dancehall concert titled Baderation.
Alkaline has also been booked to perform at the Chattabox Festival in Antigua. Chattabox is widely known for its travelling J'ouvert brand, with past executions to much fanfare.
Over the past two months, the artiste has released singles such as Motivation, Boss, Mad Luv and Grip accumulating millions of views across streaming platforms. Two of the tracks - Motivation and Boss - produced by Autobamb and Sart Out Records, continue to solidify his meteoric rise and place at the genre's helm.
The release of Alkaline's Caribbean island-hopping calender comes months after joining Givenchy Spring-Summer 2023 global campaign.
"The team is looking forward to travelling across North America in the coming months, specifically, the Caribbean. So much is happening, and we can't wait to share it with the fans. It will be a Givenchy kind of summer, so look out and purchase while stocks last. The focus is always attaining, achieving, and prevailing; it's a new wave!," said Kereena Beckford, Alkaline's manager.
