Micah Shemaiah readies for European performances
With summer approaching, Micah Shemaiah is preparing to make another run on the European festival circuit.
When he hits the stage, fans can expect to hear some new songs. Many of them are from Jamaica Jamaica, his 15-song album which was released in March by We Generation Music, a company he operates in Kingston. The album is distributed by Evidence Music, which is based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Jamaica Jamaica contains the hard-hitting title song, the provocative Why You Killing Dem So, and the ballad Left my Heart in MoBay.
One of the events he is scheduled to perform is Reggae Geel, which takes place August 4-5 in Geel, Belgium. This year's show also features Burning Spear, Tarrus Riley, Kabaka Pyramid and Marcia Griffiths.
Jamaica Jamaica is Micah Shemaiah's fifth album. It offers more of the conscious music he grew up listening to when his parents were members of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.
"I don't see myself as anything but trying to be free of evil thoughts and making wrong steps, as every man. But [I'm just] taking the way closest to the Most High, not void of faults and errors. I am inspired as always by mankind and our Father who made us and how great it is to be alive and to accomplish powerful things and live powerful moments," he said.
Jamaica Jamaica was mainly recorded at Micah Shemaiah's Bigga Dread studio in Kingston. His previous album, Still, came out in 2021.
