Country reggae artiste Wesrok is urging young people to develop a positive body image, especially as society's image-driven culture focuses on unrealistic standards of beauty.

His single, Perfectly Imperfect, which was co-produced by Tower Band, was released last week on the 360 Global label with visuals which showcase the beauty of St Ann.

Wesrok expressed hope that the single and video can provide an inspirational message for those struggling with their emotions and financial hardships.

"We are all perfectly imperfect. When someone tells you that you are 'perfectly imperfect', this means that they truly admire you and accept your flaws," Wesrok said.

"We must begin to love ourselves and not judge each other and ourselves by unrealistic body image and beauty standards, as these standards not only have a negative impact on adults, but are impacting children with alarming consequences. Love yourself and love your family and love will find a way," he added.

After gracing the stage at the recent Ocho Rios and St Mary Kite Festivals, Wesrok is now preparing for the Notting Hill Carnival in London this summer.

"It will be my first time performing at the Notting Hill Carnival. From my understanding, it's a very huge carnival and one that will attract many people [from] across the world," he said.

The carnival will be held between August 27 and 28.

Wesrok, whose given name is Percival Buddan, hails from Bog Walk in St Catherine. A former police officer, he completed a master's degree in national strategic studies in 2010 at Northern Caribbean University in Manchester.
