Seaview Gardens-based recording artistes Ojaye Amor and Ossie Don are anticipating their musical breakthrough via their collaborative track Tell Me Why, which was released on April 21.

According to Ojaye Amor, the song highlights the "hypocritical, cunning and deceiving nature of humans".

"There are still good people out in this world but there are others who will pretend with a smile while being a back biter. It's a song that is relatable and spans both the young and older demography. Everyone has moments of betrayal in their lives so this is really a universal anthem," Ojaye Amor said.

The instrumental to the song was built by 18-year-old Ossie Don. The teenager said he used the Garage band on his cell phone to build the rhythm.

"We really hope that this will give us our own individual breakthroughs that we have been working on for years. The collab came about real easily as both of us have this musical chemistry. We are also gifted writers so it came effortlessly," Ossie Don said. The Kingston College graduates are working on other collaborations, as well as individual projects.

Also a medical doctor, Ojaye Amor, whose given name is Omar Jackson, said his aim is to positively influence the youth in his Kingston 11 community through music and medicine. He said that he is aware of the huge expectations that they have to fill coming from a community that has produced some of dancehall and reggae's finest including Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killer and Dexta Daps.

"I want to use the popularity from music to help to zoom in on the community. Seaview isn't about guns and killings, as there are really talented persons here. The community has birthed Grammy-winning deejays. We can reach the ears of the youth through music," he said.

The single is produced by 3rd World Production and Silverbirds Records.
