Minister Marion Hall, who said that she was going to light up the stage at Groovin' in the Park at Roy Wilkins Park in New York on Sunday, delivered on that promise and did not disappoint.

Dressed as if she was going to one of her Sunday services, the musical minister came out strong with a message of good over evil, and, at the end of her set, Minister Hall answered all the speculations of her returning to the secular world.

"I will never go back to being Lady Saw ... but I am tough," she said in closing.

Throughout her blistering 45-minute set, Minister Hall had her audience's undivided attention as she delivered a powerful testimony, in which she highlighted her many struggles following her baptism in December 2015.

"I was almost homeless here in the US," she said.

Minister Hall, formerly known as Lady Saw, the Queen of the Dancehall, then delved into her gospel catalogue, performing songs such as Mi Soon Alright, I Believe in God and Room In My House in front of a capacity audience.

She then, through song, addressed rumours of her being an obeah worker, while emphasising that she had absolutely no interest in being a dancehall queen once again. The current Dancehall Queen, Spice, was booked for Groovin' in the Park, but she pulled out days before the concert for reasons unknown.

Although Hall didn't make any direct reference to anyone during her set, she hurled a string of insults towards her 'enemies' through songs like Kiss Out Mi Bible and It Never Work.

The audience roared as she held on to her Bible and instructed her foes to kiss out the books of Hebrews, Matthew, Mark and Revelations.

She was later joined on stage by pastor and gospel artiste Jabez, and the duo gave a fiery rendition of I Am A Warrior. Other songs which followed included Freedom and I Am Doing Better.

Groovin' in the Park is the biggest secular stage that Minister Hall has performed on since her baptism seven and a half years ago. She is scheduled to perform at Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, St James, on July 22, when she said she will be giving out Bibles to members of the audience in her effort to "win souls for Christ".
