Rugged Boss gets the party started with ‘Defense’

Singer Rugged Boss is pleased with the response that he has been receiving from his most recent single, Defense.

The song, which speaks about one's lifestyle of partying and having fun, as well as being with the females while staying protected, was released in April.

"The inspiration came about when I was vibing the rhythm, the melody came to me, and it was just a vibe and energy. The song isn't just relatable to me per se; most people can relate to the song in dancehall and also everyday life," said Rugged Boss.

Defense is a co-production between Jahlove2U Productions and RaMeD Studios.

"The response has been great so far on social media. Fans love the song and have been sharing it all over, which I am grateful for," Rugged Boss disclosed.

The entertainer, who is originally from the Kingston 12 area, is putting the final touches on his forthcoming EP 1Boss. The project, which he said will consist of about 11 songs, is slated for release later this year.

"My EP was supposed to be released a while now, but due to certain things beyond our control [it wasn't]. Hopefully, this year we can get it out there for my fans. The producers are Jahlove2U Productions and RaMeD Studios; these are my main producers that I work with," Rugged Boss shared.

His entry into music began at an early age while growing up in the church. He also sang on local stage shows within his community.

"The journey has been great musically. You learn a lot, good and not so good experiences, which come with the territory. But in general, [it has been] a good journey, and the journey continues until that hit song," he said.
