Daydreams going to be the hottest party, says Shenseea
Shenseea has not touched a local stage in a while and fans are more than ready for her performance at the event dubbed the Caribbean's largest party experience -- Campari Dream Weekend.
As for Shenseea herself, she is definitely feeling the vibes and can't wait to perform for her 'Shenyengs'.
"Dream Weekend is such a staple for the summer party period in Jamaica that it was a no brainer for me to jump on board," the Blessed artiste told THE WEEKEND STAR.
The week-long event which will take place over five days from July 28 - August 1 at its home base in Negril, Westmoreland, features eight parties and entertainment by top artistes and DJs from all genres of music. The "weekend that never sleeps" series boasts live performances by Shenseea, Wayne Wonder, Stalk Ashley, Chronic Law, Valiant, Ding Dong, Stefflon Don and Skeng.
The parties include Celebrity Playground, featuring Skeng on July 28; Daydreams, featuring Shenseea on July 29; Yush, featuring Wayne Wonder on July 29; World Vibes, featuring Chronic Law on July 30; Wet N Wild on July 30; Mawnin After, featuring Stalk Ashley on July 31; Island Beats with Stefflon Don, Ding Dong and Roze Don on July 31; and Igloo, featuring Valiant on August 1.
Boldly speaking her truth, Shenseea declared, "Daydreams a go be the hottest party for the entire weekend because I will be performing live for my Shengyengs and I cannot wait! I want everybody to come down to Negril July 28 to August 1 because Campari Dream Weekend 2023 will be the best one yet!"
Shenseea, who was recently featured in Ebony Magazine's 'Women Who Rule Break' series, in celebration of Women's History Month, shared in a recent interview with Nyla Symone on We Need To Talk podcast that her second album is near completion and will be released sometime between the end of August and early September. She also mentioned that it has a new sound.
Shenseea signed to American label Interscope Records in 2019 and her debut album, Alpha, which dropped in March 2022, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, and was the second highest-selling album by a Jamaican artiste for that year.
"It's [the new album] different ... like what I'm coming with, I've never even done it before ...that's why I gotta make sure that it's really good before I put it out," she she told Nyla Simone, adding that the new sound is "where I want to go ... this is actually the music that I want to do. The type of music that I feel is real timeless".
She was quick to insert that there are already timeless dancehall songs in her repertoire, but noted that "I feel like the music that I have coming has more legs than the dancehall timeless ones because not everyone can understand the dialect. So these ones are exactly like what I want to do with my career."
