JoJo Mac returns with ‘Art and Life’
Recording artiste JoJo Mac is back with her latest project, Art and Life.
Released on June 16, the album was produced by Winston Solomon for the artiste's label, Fire N Ice Records. The lead single, Even If It Rains, was released on April 14.
"The song Even If It Rains is about overcoming obstacles and situations in life, believing in something bigger than yourself, and finding a place of peace within yourself. The album is a myriad of life experiences that are a part of everyday life for a large number of people," the artiste explained.
Since its release, the positive feedback for the 13-track album has been encouraging, with music lovers and radio personalities giving the album rave reviews.
"As more people listen to the album, I'm hoping they will take away a feeling of hopefulness mixed in with a little joy. I hope each person finds something they can relate to and even learn from; just enjoy the music," the artiste said.
Originally from Clarendon, the US-based artiste has been in the game since the early 1990s. She previously performed under the stage name Goldii, and her first album, Hard and Soft, was produced by Duckie Simpson of Black Uhuru. After meeting and working with Clement 'Sir Coxsone' Dodd of Studio One in 2000, she started a new chapter in her musical life and re-emerged as JoJo Mac.
"I see myself as a pop/reggae artiste; my music is mostly a mix of genres. On this album, you will find some pop, R&B and Afrobeats influences. My previous album, Blueprint, was all reggae. My music can be listened to by anyone from [age] eight to a 108," she said.
JoJo Mac wears several hats. She is a published author with two books under her belt, as well as a news presenter and radio personality.
"I'm hoping what is next for me is getting more shows. The stage is my favourite place to be, and I would like for more people to get to see me on the stage and share that experience with me," she stated.
