Fledgling label looks to make its name
Up-and-coming independent label Visually Sound Records (VSR) is making major moves locally, concentrating on the area of artiste management to harness and develop the new wave of Caribbean deejays and singers.
"We are seeking to create a framework, support and mechanisms to provide a platform and creative outlet for budding artistes with amazing talent and drive," said Paul McAllister, one of the founding members of VSR.
"We want to raise the bar in terms of the support provided to young artistes, to better assist with navigating the challenging and complex nature of the entertainment and music industry."
VSR is the brainchild of founders and long-time "brothers from another mother", McAllister and Dennis Brown. The latter recently directed the video for the single Slo Mo, a collaboration with Cham, Bounty Killer and Dexta Daps.
VSR most recently released new videos for the Wildlife Pettodene single, Rifle Life, and Ah-Drianna's For the Night. Another upcoming project to be released, which VSR is extremely excited about, is one with dancehall superstar Silk Boss. The single is a co-production with Ice Queen Records.
"The project with Silk Boss is going to be huge," McAllister said. VSR has had more than 30 releases encompassing dancehall, hip-hop and R&B.
Currently, VSR supports the entire music production process in-house, from artistic conceptualisation to vocal recording, beat and rhythm building, video shooting and editing, as well as distribution.
"We are coming to make our mark," McAllister said.
