Dancehall artiste Virgo Man recently received an award for Deejay of the Year at the first anniversary of the popular Original Dancehall Thursdays event, which is held weekly at Rebel T HQ in Kingston.

"I am very happy to receive this award from the promoters of Original Dancehall Thursdays. I want to thank Oneil Famous, Peter Metro, Major Mackerel, and the entire Dancehall Thursdays crew for recognising my work in the music industry. I also must commend them for the work that they are doing to preserve the original rub-a-dub dancehall culture in Jamaica," said Virgo Man.

The veteran deejay credits the success of his single, Obeah Man, for his winning the award.

The song was produced by Virgo Man and released on his Pure and Clean Production label early last year. Since then, it has been a staple on the local airwaves.

"I know that I was given this award mainly because of the success of this song, because it is one of the most played songs in Jamaica. Anywhere I perform Obeah Man, it's a hit," he said.

Virgo Man is gearing up to release a new single titled God Is Watching You on his Pure and Clean Production imprint this month.

"This is another conscious one for the people. As you know, I am always delivering conscious, uplifting, entertaining songs for my people," he said.

Virgo Man, given name Curtis Colin Cole, hails from Glengoffe in St Catherine. He made his recording debut in 1989 with the release of the single Bogus Love.
