Growing up in Portmore, St Catherine, during the 1990s, Rich Kid loved listening to deejays Lieutenant Stitchie and General TK.

Even though he is now a committed Christian, the long-time Toronto, Canada resident never abandoned the raw dancehall sound that influenced him.

Rich Kid combines that secular feel with evangelical fervour for Dwellings of The Most High (aka Jesus Dance), an uptempo song which was released on August 4, through his Cash Global Records.

"Music knows no boundaries, where genres and melodies soar freely. Each person's joyful expression creates its own unique magic," said Rich Kid.

His new single features Nadine Dillions, another Toronto resident, who was a rhythm and blues singer before converting to Christianity.

The song is complemented by the five-step 'Jesus Dance Challenge', visuals for which were serviced to social media in early June. Rich Kid and his team are banking on that contest to boost interest in the song.

As much as the Portmore dancehall scene inspired him, Rich Kid credits living in Toronto for expanding his views on music.

"I've been a proud Torontonian for 33 years, and I also spent two years in the USA. Toronto is a multicultural hub, with a vibrant diaspora gospel scene and strong support for reggae/dancehall music from diverse nationalities. It's a city where music transcends boundaries and brings people together," he said.
