Mark Messam starts 2024 on a high

Reggae artiste Mark Messam offers up sounds similar to those that rocked the airwaves in the late '80s and '90s on his six-track EP, Mark Messam Showcase.

The lead single from the project, Make You Mine, is enjoying heavy rotation on the airwaves, locally and internationally. Other tracks include The Way It Is and Not The Same.

"I used to listen to singers like Tony Curtis. His type of melody and music made me appreciate reggae music even more. There will be a video shoot for the song Make You Mine, which is in the first phase of planning," he shared.

The St Elizabeth native arrived on to the music scene in 1996 with the song My Lady, which solidified his path within the music industry.

"I gained a lot of experience musically in the business. It is not easy because of the competitiveness in the industry. I always strive for the best and put in 100 per cent. Sometimes I have setbacks, but I never give up. I really have a passion for music and I just keep pushing," he said.

He advised up-and-coming artistes not to give up on their dreams.

"Stay focused, put God first in everything you are doing, pray, believe in yourself, and be positive."
