Big Pop puts spin on Shenseea’s ‘Hit and Run’

Dancehall artiste Big Pop has put his comedic spin on Shenseea and Masicka's hit track, ' Hit and Run', with his own parody version titled ' Hip and Run'.

The entertainer, known in the industry for his knack for spin-off tracks, said he was immediately impressed when he first heard Hit and Run, and decided to put his own take on it.

"Shenseea a mi artiste, mi respect har and mi love har, 'cause I know that she is a very talented person. So when she do a song like this, as mi hear it me say, 'Wow, this is so beautiful'," he told THE STAR.

Big Pop revealed that he has no reservations about parody tracks.

"Mi do it fi everybody have a laugh so, you know, is nothing serious. It's like me always a do dem something yah, a just me that. Me love happy music and me love emotional music, a me that," he said.

So, when he heard Shenseea's Hit and Run, he decided to put his own twis on it. He said doing parodies remains one of his strongest areas of contribution to music, so he will continue along that trajectory, as every artiste has to decide what is beneficial to them.

"We just having fun in music. The music is lacking fun, so mi a try carry back the fun part of music to. Everybody a do dem thing; mi always pick a lane fi myself and continue pon my lane fi myself, a just me that," he said.

"Me naw go run from lane to lane because the hype over deh suh, I like to create my own lane and take time do mi thing," he said.

Hit and Run, which was released only three weeks ago, has amassed 12 million views on the streaming platform YouTube. Big Pop is hopeful that the popularity of the original will improve the fortunes of his song, Hip and Run.
