Ras Emmanuel releases ‘Dancehall Forever’
New York/New Jersey-based reggae artiste Ras Emmanuel releases a new album this week titled Dancehall Forever, his third album to date.
The long-awaited album features 20 cuts, and the artiste blends elements of old '90s dancehall with the sounds of fresh, contemporary beats. To amplify the reach of the album, several prominent artistes are included on the VPAL/ VP Records release. Among them are Louie Culture, General B, Tifa, Terry Ganzie, Penny Irie, Lushy Banton, Determine and Jigsy King.
Parts of Dancehall Forever were recorded in New Jersey at Imark Productions in Maplewood, where Nigy Boy also records, and some of the songs were recorded in Kingston. The producers are Nasir Gowdie, Lawrence Gowdie and Mark Walcott.
"I see this album as a new engine to revive dancehall," Ras Emmanuel said. "The old creativity of gritty dancehall alongside fresh, new sounds is what makes this new album pure fire, and I am very proud of the outcome."
The lead single is also the title track, and Lushy Banton is featured on the brisk, upbeat and catchy track. Other songs on the album are 24 Gyal, Style Up, Salute and Media Junkie.
Ras Emmanuel was born in Central Village, St Catherine. He has toured Australia, the UK, Africa, South America and the US. He has a large fan base in parts of Africa, and has his eyes set on Europe and Africa for promoting his new release.
