Speaker of The House of Representatives and wife of Jamaica's prime minister, Juliet Holness, joined reggae band Third World on stage for an impromptu performance of Bob Marley's One Love at the ISSA Trust Foundation charity gala in New York City on the weekend.

Hosted at the Cipriani 42nd Street in the Big Apple, Holness, who gave a brief speech earlier in the night's proceedings, entertained the audience during the closing moments at the charity fundraising event when she joined other singers centre stage including Gramps Morgan, Luciano, Kumar and Third World to perform the hit.

The electrifying moment which unfolded at the prestigious event that is dedicated to raising funds for children's healthcare in Jamaica, underscored the powerful connection between music, charity, and community. Holness seamlessly transitioned into the role of performer, embodying the spirit of unity and solidarity that Marley's music has long championed. Chairman of the Reggae Industry Association and advisory board member of the ISSA Trust Foundation, Ewan Simpson, said it was amazing to see Holness performing on stage.

"It's always a pleasure to see her present. You know she comes to light in that kind of context and the audience loved it. They were lapping up every minute of it, the people were dancing and singing along," he said, adding that the performance wasn't rehearsed.

"It was in a moment where Cat Coore called all the band members together and all the guest performers to come up and do a tribute in reflection of Desi Jones who had passed earlier that evening, and, in the moment, Mrs Holness decided to join them and it was just amazing and the performers enjoyed having her and she enjoyed performing with them," he said.
