New York-based reggae singer Nigy Boy, one of the breakout stars on Rvssian's 'Dutty Money' rhythm, has secured a nomination for 'Best New Artiste' (Dancehall) at the Caribbean Music Awards, slated for August 29, at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York.

Nigy Boy will go up against Kraff, Byron Messia, Stalk Ashley, Malie Donn and Rajah Wild for honour.

"I am honoured and overjoyed to have been recognised for my work this early in my career," Nigy Boy told THE STAR. "It's still mind-boggling how fast things are moving for me."

Other nominees at the Caribbean Music Awards include Reggae Queen Marcia Griffiths, Sizzla, Buju Banton, Morgan Heritage and Collie Buddz, who are nominated in the Album of the Year (Reggae) category, while Masicka, Beenie Man, Popcaan and Aidonia are all nominated in the Album of the Year (Dancehall) category.

Nigy Boy, who has generated an abundance of love and interest for his compelling music and his engaging narrative of rising to the top in spite of many hurdles, has now returned stateside after spending two weeks on vacation in Jamaica.

"Jamaica was very festive and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there," the 'Continent Boss' said. "I don't get to swim in a river when I am in New York," he added, making reference to his frequent dips in the White River while he was in Jamaica

Nigy Boy is currently heavily booked and very busy catching up on studio commitments. He expressed gratitude for every opportunity he gets to hit the stage and interact with fans.

"There is great anticipation surrounding my scheduled performance at Reggae Sumfest in July and I certainly plan to deliver a riveting performance," he said.
