Money Pallet airs his concern with ‘Street Safety’

St. Thomas-based dancehall artiste Money Pallet is upset about the continued carnage on the nation's roads that is claiming the lives of many Jamaicans. He is hoping to inspire change with his latest single, ' Street Safety', that uses savvy lyrics to encourage safe, sensible driving and strict observance of road rules and regulations.

"We closed the year 2025 with four persons killed in a PPV (public passenger vehicle) and we started the year with four persons killed in a private motor vehicle crash. This shows that things are getting out of hand, it is clear that speeding is the cause of most of these accidents once again. It hurts mi heart when mi see the videos and news more time, the bloody carnage on the roads has to stop," Money Pallet, aka Richest Boss said.

He released the single in the first week of January to rave reviews from fans. The song urges drivers to "k eep your eyes on the road, be careful of those potholes/mi know anno fast vehicle drive and kill people/ keep it under control/ V8 engine fully load....at the pedestrian crossing/remember the kids dem, jaywalker deh pon the road".

The track also implores motorists "not to drink and drive" while giving safety tips about speeding in built-up areas, the use of seatbelts and "driving with caution".

"The death of four women in a deadly crash in St Elizabeth over the weekend only reinforces the need for a stronger focus on road safety. There are far too many private motor vehicle operators killing off themselves and other unsuspecting motorists. Something has to change, that's why we do the song and the people dem a work with it in the streets," he said.

Thirty-two people were killed in 27 fatal crashes during the month of December 2025 according to the Island Traffic Authority. There were five multi-vehicle collisions during the month which resulted in 10 fatalities. The Road Safety Unit said that seven people have been killed on the roads since the start of 2026.

Money Pallet plans to shoot a video for the project given the early overwhelming feedback. He is willing to lend his voice and talents to the Island Traffic Authority to reach motorists.

Born Maurice Omealy, grew up in Yallahs, St Thomas, and attended Yallahs High School. After graduating, he decided to enter the music business, using the name Robo Cop, and in 1994, he began working with producer J. Murffi. He recorded three singles on the Jazzy Creation label.

In 1999, Jazzy died and, in an attempt to reboot his career, he changed his name to Chrysla, but was barred from using the name by a local company because of possible copyright infringement implications. He then changed his name to Money Pallet.

He has been consistently working over the past couple of months releasing songs like Money Bag, Richest Lifestyle, Spanish Gal and Breaking News with rapper Evzy.

He is known for the slangs "richa yuh" and "dem sicka that, dem tink a fruit juice and a liquor dat".

"We run past rich so we say 'richa yu', we ah the Richest Boss, ah smart riches we say," Money Pallet said, laughing.
