Doing nails comes naturally - Givans-Andrews

With almost a decade of experience as a nail technician, Tiffany Givans-Andrews says being on top of the multitude of changes in the nail industry is what has helped her to maintain her clientele.

"There are a lot of developments, and my long stay as a nail technician has been because I am constantly introducing new things to my clients who love the advancements," said Givans-Andrews.

The 26-year-old started operating her own nail bar in 2006, but she was heavily involved in the field long before that.

"It came naturally, I used to do my mom and sister's nails and when I was in high school, my mother started buying me stuff and people came to my house to do their nails," said Givans-Andrews.

According to the Central High alumnus, customer service is one of her main priorities as an entrepreneur.

"Customers make your business; without customers, there is no business, so I ensure my clients leave pleased," she explained.

In five years, the nail technician intends to expand her services and also begin teaching.

"I want to be operating in more than one place. I also want be training people in nail art and to continue putting my best forward," said the Clarendon native.

After almost 10 years in the beauty industry, the Clarendon native had advice for young and upcoming beauticians.

"You must have a passion for what you do. You also need to be on top of the game because there are always new things in the beauty industry, so be ready to adapt," added Givans-Andrews.

The LA Pink, Foot Logics and Gelish nail polish-certified nail technician operates her nail bar in Mandy's Beauty Salon at 10 Manchester Avenue in May Pen, Clarendon.
