Business teachers wanted!

May 05, 2016

Are you an excellent educator who is willing to join a team of results-oriented, seasoned teachers? Are you willing to give enthusiastic students of all ages, who are eager to learn, the opportunity to tighten up on their skills just before the exam period? Then this sounds like the job for you!

Biggs, Grant & Johnson (BGJ) Institute is currently on the lookout for a business teacher who is able to motivate an entire classroom while imparting knowledge effectively.

THE STAR, in this week's Jobs & Careers feature, is attempting to make a match between employers and employees. After searching The Gleaner Classifieds for job vacancies, our news team connected with 37-year-old Richard Grant, one of the institution's administrators who was able to shed some light on just who he considers to be a right fit for the job.

"It (the school) is located at Shop Number 27, Savannah Plaza," the proprietor began.

According to the initial classified ad, the entity is on the lookout for a "business teacher needed urgently to do CSEC past-paper marathon" for the subjects of office administration, principles of business and management of business. The ad also said students are now being prepared for their upcoming Caribbean Secondary Certificate Examinations (CSEC) this year, but missing one important thing; a competent instructor!

"We are looking for somebody at a degree level, minimum," Grant explained. "We want somebody to come and prepare to do a marathon with students. Somebody to give that final overall comprehensive revision for the upcoming exams."

Depending on how well the chosen candidate performs, they may even be a more permanent post at the school, starting in September, Grant added. Those who exemplify a certain passion and enthusiasm for teaching are almost a shoo-in.

"We would rather somebody who is vibrant as well," Grant said. "These people are persons who come in from work. So we want somebody that can motivate the students."
