January 06, 2016

The new year has started with a bad omen for crime fighting in Clarendon, following the shooting death of 22-year-old tattoo artist, Toron Marks, in the New Town area of Vere, just after 10 p.m. Monday.

An unidentified man was also shot in the incident, and is admitted in hospital in stable condition.

Marks' sister said he was among a group of patrons at a shop when three men walked in and ordered drinks before making enquiries about a friend of Marks.

When their enquiries weren't satisfactorily met, they immediately pulled guns and opened fire on the patrons before making their escape on foot in the area.

"Me just hear say them ask for a youth, but nobody answer, so them start shoot up the place just like that," she explained.

"After the shooting stop, we realised that Toron and another youth get shot. We rushed him to the hospital but him die, but the other man is still alive," she added.

Marks' death follows a mid- afternoon homicide in the parish capital, which left Roshane Blake, 24, dead after he allegedly attempt to rob a licensed firearm holder who fatally shot him.
