Second time offender sentenced to 18 months
A deliveryman, who is also a second offender, was sentenced to nine months imprisonment yesterday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court for stealing money that he was entrusted with.
Charged with larceny as a servant is Garfield Dinal.
He pleaded guilty to the offence.
The court heard that Dinal went to deliver medical supplies to a doctor on two occasions, and following the delivery, money totalling $45,000 and $31,000 was collected but never paid over to his employers.
Dinal told the court, "Your Honour, I made a bad error. I am willing to repay."
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey questioned Dinal about his previous offence, simply larceny, before handing down her sentence.
He was sentenced to nine months on each count and are to run concurrently.
