CISOCA probes 'stolen' baby saga

In pursuit of an alleged baby boy that was reportedly stolen after she supposedly gave birth to twins at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, a teen mother has made an official report to CISOCA (Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse), and an investigation has been launched.

Information reaching THE STAR is that the 16-year-old mother, who gave birth on January 20, made a report to CISOCA on February 12 after meeting with her attorney in relation to the matter.

Yesterday when our news team spoke to the teen, she said she hopes that the matter can be resolved soon. She also said the baby girl she delivered was in her care and doing well despite her dilemma.

Constable D Mitchell, who is investigating the matter, told THE STAR that his office has launched a probe into the allegations.

Our news team also gathered that the investigation might utilise the services of other divisions within the constabulary, namely C-TOC (Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch) and MOCA (Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency).

The teen's attorney, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she is still waiting on consent from the minor's mother, told THE STAR that she has been contacted to represent the teen in the matter.

"I'm not yet properly instructed, I will have to meet with her mother because she is a minor. What I do know is that she has made a report to CISOCA, and MOCA apparently will investigate if there is any human trafficking going on," the attorney said.

Meanwhile, the teen's mother is adamant that her daughter bore twins recently at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital and alleges that one of her babies was stolen shortly after she gave birth.

The teen is fuming that medical staff took her son, and says she and her family will not rest until a proper investigation is done into the matter.

Since the story broke on February 5 in THE STAR, South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) has said that nurses at the hospital are being threatened and condemns the act. They also said their investigations revealed that no less than seven medical professionals witnessed when the patient delivered a single baby.

The Child Development Agency is also aware of the case and have offered counselling to the teen.
