Fined for beating woman with board

A man who used a piece of board to beat a woman because she told him to perform oral sex on her was fined recently in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Zaro Ellis. He pleaded guilty to the offence and gave the court an explanation.

Ellis said, "Your Honour, she tell mi to come and suck her ... and I was ignorant at the time."

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said, "Well, I am ignorant now so you better calm me down."

Ellis was then fined $20,000 or ordered to serve six months' imprisonment.
