A man who confessed to destroying his babymother's washing machine pleaded guilty to malicious, destruction of property when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

Deon Stewart told the court he was not thinking clearly when he went to the complaint's house on the day of the incident.

"She did say some things weh piss me off, but me never go there planning to do anything," he explained.

The accused said when he went to her house, the argument that ensued resulted in him getting angry enough to want to hit her.

"To be honest, me mind did a tell me to do bad things, so me just push over the machine and cut," he said.

Stewart was told to pay $20,000 to repair the machine. He is set to return on March 18 to update the court on the compensation.

His bail was extended.
