Dr Winston Dawes, chairman of the Clarendon Chamber of Commerce, wants criminal cases against police to be dealt with speedily.

"It is grossly unfair for any individual who has put their lives at risk to allege like this to have been charged with murder," Dawes said.

Dawes, who was also the former Senior Medical Officer at the May Pen Hospital, said that some of his patients who are police officers constantly complain of the stress and fatigue they undergo when they are faced with a situation but are scared to act out of fear for the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).

In 2014, eleven policemen attached to the Clarendon Division were arrested and brought before the courts by INDECOM as it probed allegations of 'police death squads' which were allegedly being operated within the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
