Matthew upgraded to Category 1 hurricane

Matthew has gained strength and has been upgraded to a hurricane, making it the fifth hurricane for the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season.
As of 2 p.m. ET Thursday, the storm was located 190 miles northeast of Curacao and was moving to the west at 17 mph. It had sustained winds of 75 mph, making it a Category 1 hurricane.
It now poses danger to Jamaica, parts of Hispañola, eastern Cuba, and the Bahamas. It is believed that Jamaica will be impacted by the hurricane by 8 a.m. on Monday.
