Fireman accused of beating babymother walks free

A firefighter accused of viciously beating his ailing babymother walked free of all charges after the complainant begged for the case to be dropped when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday.

The accused, 32-year-old Jason McNamee, who hails from Kingston 4, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

McNamee was charged after his babymother accused him of shoving her to the ground, kicking her in her back, throwing her into a wall and dragging her hair.

The two have been together for four years and have a two-year-old daughter.

The complainant reported that she and McNamee had lived together for some time, but she had moved out because he was cheating on her and was abusive. They, however, continued a visiting relationship.

On the day on the incident, the complainant reported that she went to McNamee's house because she suspected he had a female there. A dispute developed and McNamee reportedly began beating his babymother while shouting, "A my yard this! Go a you yard!"

The matter was reported and McNamee charged. However, the complainant told Judge Andrea Collins that she wants to drop the case.

"I have a surgery coming up next week and I just can't do this," she said.

Judge Collins honoured the complainant's wishes and dismissed the case, but added, "At least be at peace with each other."
