Retired teachers head back to classroom
Students at the Mount Olivet Primary School in Manchester were taught reading by four retired teachers who are members of the Shotwood Teachers' College Alumni Association Manchester chapter on Tuesday as the school marked Read Across Jamaica Day.
The teachers, who retired from active classroom duties a few years ago, spent time with the students, reading to them and giving them pointers aimed at assisting them in being able to read effectively.
Spokesperson for the teachers Pearl Taylor, who is also the president for the chapter, said despite being retired, her group wants to continue to make an impact on the communities.
The teachers also shared with the students how reading will increase their knowledge and empower them.
