Woman wants bail conditions changed
Trench Town resident Teisha Douglas is begging the courts to adjust her bail conditions so she can return home.
According to Douglas, she was forced to leave her home on November 28, 2017, when a parish judge ordered that she stay away from the Trench Town area as a condition of her bail.
"I would like to go back to my home where I am paying my mortgage and other bills for. I cannot access my home because I have a case pending in the courts," Douglas said. "I am not a threat to anyone and I was not given a chance to explain myself properly to the judge," she added.
Douglas said she was dragged before the court and charged with assault after an altercation with three other females.
Douglas, who is self-employed, said she is the sole provider for her son, who has autism. She said that although she feels welcome at her friend's residence where she is now staying, she would like to return to the comfort of her own home.
"I sell little things from the convenience of my home or on the road, so I can't function the way I should, but I still try to make best of the resources I have at hand. I don't know how long the case is going to be before the court, so I am appealing for the system to just please adjust the bail so I can return home with my son," she said.
Douglas is scheduled to return to court in July.
