Four walk free after no-evidence submissions

June 05, 2018

Four St James residents who were involved in a fight in April were freed by the St James Parish Court after all the parties decided to make amends.

Jacqueline Baron, Kristy Johnson, and Mark Johnson were before the court on charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Damia Rowe, who was charged with unlawfully wounding Kristy Johnson.

All four received no-evidence motions from the court after electing to drop their respective cases.

It is alleged that on April 6, the four defendants got into a dispute, which escalated into a fight, in which Baron and the Johnsons all assaulted Rowe.

Rowe, in turn, inflicted injuries to Kristy Johnson.

When the case was mentioned, presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small was told that none of the accused was interested in pursuing the case any further and that they had come to an agreement outside of court.

As a result, the four defendants were freshly pleaded to their respective charges, and all four were allowed to leave after entering pleas of not guilty.
