While the sight of bodies or the thoughts of ghosts may frighten most children, this wasn't the same for a young Peter Perry.

As a youngster, he was somewhat fascinated with the dead, stating that he would feel unfulfilled if he attended a funeral and did not get a chance to see the body.

Perry's fascination followed him into adulthood, so much so that he turned his interest in the dearly departed into a business.

"I really made up my mind to venture into this business after my stepson died. I didn't like the way the funeral home treated his body, so I just told myself this is what I am going to do," he said.

Not long after, Perry's Funeral Arrangement and Supplies was born. Perry said he started out storing bodies at other funeral homes. He now has his own facilities as well as two chapels that are used for funerals.

"This is a one-stop funeral home," he told THE STAR during a recent visit to the Job Lane funeral home.

"Everyone mourns differently. Some are silent mourners, while others will even mess themselves, so I ensure that I provide a clean and luxurious bathroom for them. Although they are at a place where the dead are kept, we ensure that it doesn't smell or look that way. During funeral services that are held at the chapel, we also have a medical staff on board just in case something happens," he said.
