Fake cop held on bus
The St Catherine North police have launched a high-level probe after a fake cop was held with an illegal firearm and two fake Jamaica Constabulary Force identification cards on a bus last Friday.
The name of the fake policeman is being withheld pending further investigations.
Reports are that one firearm and several rounds of ammunition, along with the counterfeit identification cards, were seized after the bus the suspect was travelling on was signalled to stop.
STOP-AND-SEARCH EXERCISE
Our news team gathered that the incident occurred about 7:20 p.m. along the Old Harbour Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
THE STAR understands that during a stop-and-search exercise, the bus was stopped and a search conducted, during which one 9 mm pistol along with nine 9 mm rounds and the counterfeit IDs were taken from the fake cop.
He was subsequently taken into custody. The Corporate Communications Unit confirmed the report.
Efforts to speak with the head of the St Catherine North police Senior Superintendent Beau Rigabe proved futile.
