Female arrested for stabbing father to death

November 21, 2018

The St Ann police say that a female is to be questioned in the presence of her attorney in relation to the stabbing death of her father, who succumbed to his injuries on Monday after a week in hospital.

Information reaching THE STAR is that 62-year-old mason Lloyd Smith of Happy News in Alexandria, St Ann, died at the St Ann's Bay Hospital on Monday.

He was being treated for injuries he received during a domestic dispute on November 11.

Reports are that sometime after 4 p.m. on the day of the incident, Smith and his daughter had a dispute, and she allegedly stabbed him several times.

Senior Superintendent Micheal Smith, head of the St Ann police, confirmed the incident and told our news team that Smith's daughter is in custody.

"There was a domestic dispute between father and daughter. It's alleged that she used a knife to stab him. At this point, she is just a suspect. She has to go through the process of a question and answer before more information can be released," he said.

THE STAR gathered that Smith's daughter, accompanied by her attorney, surrendered to the police last Wednesday.

Investigations are ongoing.
