Husband held in connection with firebombing incident

As they continue to probe the firebombing incident that claimed two lives on November 25 in Salisbury Plain in St Andrew, the police have confirmed that they have apprehended the husband of the deceased woman.

Shanna-Kaye Bowen and her daughter, Tashal Munda, a fourth-form student at St Hugh's High School, met their demise after they were reportedly locked inside their home that was later set ablaze by arsonists. Other relatives who were inside the house managed to escape.

Bowen's husband, who is a person of interest in the investigation, was held on the weekend.

Munda, a top-performing student at St Hugh's High School, died last Wednesday, while her mother passed away a day later.

Senior Superintendent Glenford Miller of the St Andrew North police yesterday confirmed that Bowen's husband was in custody.

"It is still early days, and I want to be very clear that he (husband) is a person of interest and not a suspect at this time. The investigation will tell us if he is a suspect or not," Miller.
