Shaniel Williams allegedly stole her cousin’s bank card and withdrew more than J$45,000 from his bank account. She will be sentenced on June 28 when she returns to the St James Parish Court.

Williams, 25, of a Barrett Town address, pleaded guilty to simple larceny and larceny from the dwelling when she appeared before presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small last Wednesday.

According to the allegations, on March 28, Williams went to the complainant’s house and took his bank card without his consent.

She then went to the bank and used the card to make several withdrawals of money amounting to J$45,430.

The complainant later noticed discrepancies with his account, and a report was made to the police. Williams was subsequently arrested and charged.

The court was also told that on a previous occasion, the complainant had given Williams his bank card and PIN number so that she could withdraw J$2,000 for him.

Having heard the allegations, Wong-Small ordered that a social enquiry report be prepared to aid in determining Williams’ sentence.
