Man says ‘gay’ mob attacked him

A maintenance worker has been left traumatised after a group of men dressed in women's clothing attacked him on a section of Half-Way Tree Road on Tuesday morning. "About 3 a.m., I was on my way to work to make preparation for staff coming in.

I normally walk it up from the Cross Roads area into Half-Way Tree. On reaching the intersection near to Tropical Battery, I saw two men dressed like females came out on the road. The two turned into four and before you know it there was an army of about 10," he told THE WEEKEND STAR.

The man said that they accosted him, brandishing knives, ice picks and machetes.

"Them grip me in the neck, my pants' waist, grab my bag with my tools, started searching it," he said. "They took away my phone and I had about $3,000. All of that was gone. They took me down to a spot behind Tropical Battery and removed all my clothes." He said they attempted to haul him into a nearby gully.

I was naked

"I would not have it so I started fighting and pushing and they were hitting me all over, and remember I was naked," he said. "I had to run all the way into the New Kingston area and they were chasing behind me. Eventually, they gave up. Thankfully, I saw some persons in a car and told them what had happened and they gave me a ride back to Half-Way Tree Road and I found clothing." The man said he missed work because of his injuries.

"I started getting some counselling because it has affected me and I also had to get medical attention for the cuts I received. A nail even ran into my foot while running," he said.

He said he called the New Kingston Police Post but has not gone there to give a statement because he is ashamed.

Meanwhile, the Corporate Communications Unit said it has heard of similar cases but persons are not making official reports.

"The police are asking persons who might have been a victim of such incident to come in and make reports so that investigations can be done. The police won't be able to do anything if the incidents are not reported," said a member of the team.
