Man killed at his stall

A businessman, Dwight McDonald, 39, was shot and killed off Gordon Road in St Andrew yesterday afternoon.

Reports are that sometime after 3 p.m, McDonald was at his stall when a motor vehicle, being driven in a reckless manner, pulled up. One of the occupants then opened fire hitting McDonald after he tried to chastise them about their driving.

It is reported that the gunmen had previously robbed and shot a man on Tavern Avenue in the area. He has since been admitted in hospital undergoing treatment.

McDonald's uncle, Vernon Angus, told THE STAR that after receiving the tragic news, he was hoping for it to be a false alarm.

"One of his friends from the area called me when I was at work and I was in disbelief, so I rushed here hoping it was not true," he said as tears welled up in his eyes. "Right now I am just happy he made a decision to give his life to Christ some time ago. He has two younger brothers too. I'm really worried about how they are going to manage this."
