137 new COVID cases push Jamaica's tally over 45,000 mark
Jamaica has surpassed 45,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, as of the 667 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 137 returned positive results bringing the tally to 45,004 with 23,395 being active.
The country's positivity rate stands at 19.6%.
Of the new cases, 78 are women and 59 are men with ages ranging from 37 days to 94 years.
Meanwhile, four more persons have died as a result of the virus pushing the death tally to 760.
The deceased are all men between the ages 73-86, form the parishes of Trelawny, Hanover, St Ann and St Catherine.
Two more fatalities are under investigation, moving that figure to 129.
In the meantime, there were 128 more recoveries, increasing the total to 20,519.
Some 258 persons are in hospital with 12 being moderately ill and 32 critically ill.
