Mechanic arrested after $5.5M worth of ganja found in plastic bags
The police have charged 34-year-old Pete Cole, a mechanic of Granville in St James for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act stemming from an incident on Thursday, April 22.
Reports are that about 6:40 p.m., the Narcotics Police, supported by members of the Manchester Police Division, were on anti-narcotics operations in the Spalding area when they intercepted a Nissan bus with one man aboard.
During a search of the vehicle, twenty-six knitted plastic bags containing compressed ganja weighing approximately 1, 400 pounds were found.
The drugs and the vehicle were seized and Cole taken into custody.
He was charged with the offences of possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, trafficking ganja, taking steps preparatory to export ganja and conspiracy to export ganja.
He appeared before the Manchester Parish Court on Wednesday, April 28 and was offered bail in the sum of $400,000 and is to reappear on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.
The drugs have an estimated street value of over $5.5 million.
