199 new COVID-19 cases, one additional death
Jamaica has recorded 199 new cases of COVID-19, increasing the national tally to 45,777.
Of the new infections, 119 are women and 80 are men with ages ranging from five months to 95 years.
With the new cases, the tally of active infections now stands at 23,505.
The country’s positivity rate is now at 21.2%.
Meanwhile, Jamaica on Friday also recorded one more death from the virus, pushing the total to 779.
The deceased is a 70-year-old male from Kingston and St Andrew.
Six more fatalities are under investigation, moving that figure to 136. Three other deaths have been listed as coincidental.
In the meantime, there were 94 more recoveries, increasing the total to 21,153.
Some 204 persons are in hospital with 15 being moderately ill and 22 critically ill.
